Canada Immigration language testing—Skilled immigrants (Express Entry)
We have recently received quite a "few" questions on English and French Language testing for Canada Immigration. In order to simplify for all the future applicants, our consultants created a page to answer the most popular questions that are being asked. Also on this page, the potential applicant will find foreign language sample test questions.
General Information on Canadian Immigration Language Testing
You must prove the language skills by taking an approved language test the results of which will need to be entered into the Express Entry profile.
The language test results should not be sent to Immigration Canada directly by the testing organization. You must submit the results with Your complete application and the applicant must keep the original test results since the Canadian Authorities might request them later during the applicant process.
Which language tests does Canada Immigration Authorities accept as a proof of knowledge of English or French languages?
Immigration Canada accepts the following Language tests:
TCF Canada : Test de connaissance du français
What language level do I have?
The language test results must be valid (less than two years old) when you:
complete your Express Entry profile
apply for permanent residence
If your test results are about to expire soon, the test should be retaken (sad, but it must be done..) and the Express Entry Profile must be updated with the new test results.
I am a native English or French speaker. Do I still need to take a language test for Express Entry or any other Economic Immigration Program?
Every potential immigrant must take a language. Why?
In order to ensure that Your language skills are assessed fairly.
An English-speaking country citizen or resident, speaking English as a first language, needs to take a test.
The same applies to French-speaking folks.
How does Citizenship and Immigration Canada calculate the language testing points?
Here are the links to IELTS practice tests. It is highly recommended to prepare for an exam to avoid taking it the second time.
The test results are valid for 2 years only.
